Guest Instructor: Matt Baxter

Meet our incredible guest instructor for “Wizards & Wonders of Broadway” Summer Camp, Matt Baxter!! Matt is currently performing in the “Special Effects Stunt Show” and “Waterworld” at Universal Studios. He is on the “Wild West Stunt Team” at Knott’s Berry Farm. You may have also seen him in the “Pirates Dinner Adventure” Show in Buena Park. Join us at Summer Camp and you can learn from Matt, a real stuntman! He will be teaching stunts and stage combat skills to our campers for our showcase.

Week 1: Students will learn basic dancing, singing and acting skills, and how to prepare for a Musical Theatre audition. They will also take a course in Hair/Makeup techniques for headshot photography vs. stage performance. We will take headshot photos of each student that they can keep and use following the camp. We will hold a mock audition and cast our production of "Wizards and Wonders of Broadway". EVERYONE involved in the camp will be cast in the show and specific character roles will be given depending on the results of the audition. The audition environment will be fun and supportive for all students at the camp! ​Each day will feature a short themed party-  for fun and to reinforce the skills learned at the camp.  

 

Week 2: Students will learn the songs and scenes from the show and prepare to perform in "Wizards and Wonders of Broadway" Musical Production. Their new headshots and bios will be featured in the show program. There will be a special stage performance for family & friends on the final day, showcasing all the techniques that the students learned from this Broadway Camp! Final performance will be held on the outdoor stage at Longshadow Ranch Winery in Temecula.

Getting to Know...THE SOUND OF MUSIC, a Youth Musical Theatre Production.

Performances at the new And All That Jazz! Performing Arts Center Theater, June 11-14, 2020*.

*Performance dates may be moved later in the summer and/or to outdoor venue, depending on Government Guidelines due to COVID-19 Pandemic.

Ages 5-18 are encouraged to audition, all roles available. We encourage all experience levels to participate, whether you are a beginner, intermediate or advanced level performer. Roles are available for all levels! This production is open to the public. You do not need to be previously enrolled with And All That Jazz to join the cast. Join us in this classic and beloved production!



Vocal Auditions will be held online, by video submission. Send your video auditions, headshot/resumes and completed Audition Forms to: andallthatjazzpac@yahoo.com 


Dance Auditions will be held online via Zoom on Friday April 24 at 4:00pm. Link and password to log-in to Dance auditions will be sent to those who have submitted audition videos, headshot/resumes & completed audition registration forms. Those who did not send vocal video auditions in advance and would like to audition vocally LIVE, will be able to do so after dance auditions are complete on this April 24 online session. 


Callbacks will be held online via Zoom: Monday April 27, 2020 at 5:30pm. Callback materials will be e-mailed after initial auditions have been completed.


Rehearsals will begin in May, rehearsal schedule TBD after looking at performer conflicts. Make sure to fill out conflicts in detail on your audition forms, so we can plan rehearsals that work best for all in the cast. Rehearsals will take place online until we are allowed to open And All That Jazz! PAC again for in-person rehearsals. When in-person rehearsals begin, we will start with rehearsing solos, duets and very small groups as a precaution (to maintain social distancing as much as possible). Then we will move on to group rehearsals. The show may be staged differently than usual, to comply with social distancing rules and to keep everyone as safe and comfortable as we can. We will follow the directions provided by the Government to comply with state rules throughout the process. 



​PRICING:

There is no cost to audition or attend callbacks. A $50 Materials Fee will be required upon accepting a role in the production for each participant. Materials Fee covers cost of scripts, props, costumes and cast t-shirts. Production fees have been reduced from original price. $50 per month will be required to participate in the production and rehearsal process.* There is a $20 per month discount for siblings joining the cast. First monthly payment (covering all rehearsals in May) is due by May 18. 


SIBLING DISCOUNT:

$20 off per month on Production Fees for each additional sibling ($30 per month for siblings).



VIDEO AUDITION REQUIREMENTS:


-Keep video under 1 minute in length

-Slate (say your name, age, height, and title of song you will be singing)

-Sing a short (approx. 32 bars/less that 1 min) classic musical theatre song

-Play an instrumental track to sing along with (through a speaker or external device). Make sure Lead vocals are not present on the track you are using.

-Send video by e-mail along with Headshot Photo/Resume and completed Audition Registration Form. If video file is too large to send by e-mail, you can send a YouTube link, or send via wetransfer.com   E-mail: andallthatjazzpac@yahoo.com

-If you would like to audition for a "dancer only" role, please send a video demonstrating dance skills for 45 seconds, to a classic musical theatre song. Make sure to also "slate" on the video and e-mail it along with a Headshot/Resume and completed Audition Form. We encourage everyone to audition for both dancing and vocals so they can be utilized as much as possible in the production.




What to prepare/submit for Audition:


-Completed Audition Registration Form  (see link below)

-Headshot Photo & Resume

-Wear Jazz Shoes or comfortable shoes for light dancing (in audition videos and also for online auditions)

-Instrumental Track (one minute selection or less / 32 bars) & Device to play song on (cell phone, ipad, computer etc. with connected speaker). Use instrumental track only, no lead vocals on recording. Classic Musical Theatre song selections preferred. 

-List of any Conflicts with potential rehearsal and performance dates, in detail with time frames for conflicts (list your conflicts through October, in case we are delayed. Though we anticipate performing in the summer).


-Provide current height measurement (example: 5'2").



Rehearsals will begin online via Zoom in May, TBD depending on performer availability. Please list conflicts in detail on Audition Forms so we can plan rehearsal dates/times that work best for all cast members. Cast rehearsals will move to And All That Jazz! Performing Arts Center in-person when deemed safe and business are allowed to reopen. Performance dates are currently set for June 11-14, 2020. However, they may be moved to later in the summer, and possibly to an outdoor venue, depending on Government guidelines regarding the COVID-19 Pandemic.


*If for any reason performance dates are delayed into the Fall due to state guidelines, monthly rehearsal payments will cease after 5 months, even if rehearsals continue after that time.

Synopsis

The final collaboration between Rodgers & Hammerstein was destined to become the world's most beloved musical. The inspirational story, based on the memoir of Maria Augusta Trapp, follows Maria, an ebullient postulant who serves as governess to the seven children of the imperious Captain Von Trapp, bringing music and joy to the household. But as the forces of Nazism take hold of Austria, the Von Trapp family must make a moral decision.

Tayler has performed for Disneyland Resort and Disney California Adventure in “Aladdin”, “Frozen”, “Mickey and the Magical Map” and more! She has played roles such as Princess Jasmine, Elena of Avalor, Pocahontas and leading roles in professional musical theatre productions across the country.
